Various Activities for the Youth
03.09.2007
West Rand District
The West Rand District's Youth gathered early in the morning of 16 June 2007 on
Priest Wilmer's small holding for a day of fun-filled activity. The Youth were
separated into groups of 6 members each to compete with one another in various
events. In one event the Youth had to demonstrate their skills by building a
table with thin wooden planks, nails and a hammer with the requirement that the
table should be able to carry a brick for 3 counts. Towards late afternoon, the
District Elder Louis Brandt made a fire for a braai. Everyone enjoyed the day
tremendously and the fellowship strengthened the bond between God's children.
Johannesburg South District
On 8 July 2007 Apostle Dimba held a combined Youth service for the Johannesburg
South Bishop Area wherein the new Youth were welcomed. A choir from each of the
five districts sang an anthem during the service. After the service the choir
who sang the best was awarded a prize. Everyone enjoyed a light meal and
fellowship after the service.
Durban Central District
On 16 June 2007, about 50 Youth from the Durban Central District visited the
Sinethemba Children Centre, located in the heart of Durban’s CBD. The Youth
entertained the 51 boys from the home by singing hymns, and they in turn
responded by singing a few church hymns of their own. Bishop Naidoo then
addressed all those present on leading a successful and God-centred life, and
spoke to the Youth about the importance of offering. After they handed out some
gifts to the home, the Youth gathered for fellowship in Sydenham and a
discussion on thankfulness. New Youth Welcomed - Bishop Kieswetter
On Sunday, 17 June 2007, Bishop Kieswetter conducted a Youth service where the
new Youth of his area were welcomed. The service was somewhat unusual, as the
Youth were invited to discuss the text word amongst themselves for about 20
minutes and answer the question: "What does the text word mean to me?" After
feedback on the discussions was given, the divine service commenced in the usual
format. The Youth gave positive feedback on being able to the discuss the text
word among themselves, and felt it served as a very interesting preparation for
the divine service that followed. New Youth Welcomed - Bishop Joubert
On 18 May 2007, all the newly confirmed Youth of Bishop Jerry Joubert’s area got
together for an evening of fun. The district leaders of the area, who were the
hosts of the evening, facilitated various discussions and exercises which were
aimed at answering the question: ‘Where are you going with your faith?’ To
remember the fun evening, each Youth member received a little toy car similar to
that in the program ‘Going Nowhere Slowly’, but to remind them that they are
going somewhere with their faith!
