Lots of effort, hard work and
enjoyment culminated in a very professional display of the Westrand District’s
talent on
14 November 2008 at the Panorama Retirement Village. The audience of all
generations participated in the Spring Concert and showed appreciation for the
show presented by each group. An appropriate atmosphere was created by the
decorations in the venue.
“Kidz 4 Christ” rendered a variety of songs under the watchful eye of their
coaches in which they supported the lyrics with meaningful movements. The
“Faith Unlimited” youth group participated as a group with various youth members
rendering solo items which ranged from contemporary to spiritual songs. The
Male Choir harmonised their voices to touch the heart strings with the rendition
of various hymns. The "Model Choir" took on songs of a high
standard and made it seem so easy to perform. The District Choir having the
benefit of a large number of members entertained the audience as well. A very
capable and expressive Priest Gideon Swart coached and led the various Choirs.
The Senior members dressed up for the occasion and demonstrated that talent
never dies but matures with age. The audience had a chance of joining in the
excitement by singing a new song from our new English hymnal “Majesty”.
The event was attended by members, friends, family and residents of the
retirement village. Various members of the audience won prizes in a lucky
draw. The great success of the event was due to the teamwork in getting things
done while having fun. The event was of a very high standard and left all in
attendance with a warm and satisfied feeling.
