Bishop Shongwe Retires

During a service in Wentworth congregation on 3 April 2005,
District Apostle Kitching placed Bishop Shongwe into retirement.

Bishop Shongwe was born on 4 April 1940 on a farm near Nelspruit. In his early twenties he received testimony of the New Apostolic faith and was sealed on 16 November 1963 by Apostle Bhulana. He was ordained as a Bishop in 1995. During his ministerial activity of 37 years, Bishop Shongwe contributed to the establishment and development of the Lord's work in great parts of the Mpumalanga province. Since1996, Bishop Shongwe served the Zulu-speaking members of the church in KwaZulu Natal. Here he also saw the restructuring of the area from the original Umlazi district into the districts of KwaMashu, Imbali, Osizweni, Umlazi and Zululand.
