One of
the aims of our district church is to promote a culture of
recognition.
On 16
December 2009, the Mpumalanga South district under the stewardship
of Bishop Milazi held
an award ceremony to honour individuals
who excelled in the execution of their responsibilities. The
function was held at the Manzana cultural centre in Badplaas.
The
Ndivhuwo (thank you) Awards is a sequel to other initiatives of the
past to give recognition to hard working individuals within the
diocese. There was an element of novelty about this event which set
it apart from previous ones. It was replete with what is to be
expected from events of this caliber with fine decorations,
certificates and trophies.
It was
a fun filled afternoon with good music, smiles from individuals who
received accolades for outstanding achievement and food that
befitted the occasion. As has become the norm in events of this
nature, the Mpumalanga South orchestra was in attendance, rendering
a spirited performance that was hugely entertaining.
Apostle
Mkwanazi stressed that the awards should not be seen to be creating
competition amongst individuals but as motivation for everyone to
contribute towards taking the Lord’s work to greater heights.
Apostle
Mkwanazi, who presided over the ceremony, handed over dozens of
certificates to a number of deserving brothers and sisters. Trophies
were awarded to congregations, districts and committees that took
top honors in their respective categories.
The
showstopper belonged to the Nyamazane district which received
special recognition for excellence in the overall functioning of a
district in terms of the various programmes that form part of the
integrated management system. The Nyamazane district is led by
District Elder Dimba.
Proceedings on the day climaxed when the orchestra choir, which was
joined on stage by Apostle Mkwanazi and Bishop Milazi, rendered
African traditional songs to the delight of the audience.
Bishop Meyer held a similar awards
ceremony for his area (Mpumalanga East) in November (picture below).
