Youth Service - Wentworth
District Apostle Kitching conducted a Youth service for the areas of Bishop
Naidoo and Shabangu on 26 October 2008. The service was attended by 415
members.
Durban North
Apostle Craig Barnes conducted a service in Durban North on 22 October 2008.
During the service he sealed 50 souls and ordained 3 priests and 3 deacons.
Painting Standerton Church
Starting 21 November 2008, Standerton congregation gave their church a "face
lift" by giving it a new coat of paint. Helping along were members from
Evander and Youth from Sakhile and Tholukwazi. The project will continue
into December.
Sunday School Service on a Mountain
Several Sunday School children of the Pretoria Area gathered in September to
attend a special service on a mountain. The service was conducted by
District Evangelist Arthur Smal. The children, apart from enjoying the
outing, also participated in building a Thanksgiving altar with stones.
Sunday School Outing
The Sunday School children of the Durban Central District enjoyed a fun-filled
day for their year end outing. District Elder Wentzel, parents and Sunday
School teachers accompanied the 78 children who enjoyed sports, swimming in the
pool and a braai, not to mention the sweets and ice cream on offer.
Turning On Christmas Lights
It has now become a tradition for Sister Lynette Mulder of Krugersdorp
congregation to create a Christmas wonderland at her home in Rant-en-Dal.
This year the lights were switched on on Sunday, 23 November. The district
choir of Westrand also sang a few Christmas songs, while Krugersdorp
congregation had food and colddrinks ready for sale for the many interested
people who annually come to see the event. This fundraising will help to
build their Sunday School classes.
Seniors Outing
Senior members of the Westrand enjoyed an outing to La Vie Royale, situated on
the banks of the Vaalriver in Vanderbijlpark, on 7 December 2008. District
Elder Brandt welcomed the 54 guests - including 30 Seniors - at the Christmas
decorated venue. They were entertained with music, received a Christmas
gift, and enjoyed a superb lunch.
Advent Chorals
Choirs from Johannesburg and Pretoria instilled a festive spirit in many as they
performed Christmas carols on 28 and 30 November respectively. The concert
in Pretoria was held in the ZK Matthews Hall (UNISA) and Dinwiddie congregation
served as the venue for the concert in Johannesburg.
