NAC and SAPS Outreach
Saturday, 7 June 2008, was not going to be an ordinary day, not for the Pretoria
East and West Districts. The South African Police Services (SAPS) and the New
Apostolic Church Outreach Programme arranged a day for the Sunday School
children and members of the church to understand what the SAPS is all about.
The
SAPS had exhibits, police dogs showed what they could do, and a Counter Assault
team did a demonstration. The Sunday School children were very excited when the
police helicopter landed to drop off members of the Counter Assault team and
pick them up again. Alwyn Bruinders from ‘Vetkoek Paleis’ also made an
appearance and had everyone laughing while the children were entertained by a
puppet show. The children also received various goodies from the SAPS.
Seniors Visit Administration Office
On Tuesday, 10 June 2008, 12
Seniors accompanied by 3 helpers from the Albertville District visited the
church administration offices in Bedfordview. Shepherd Peter Ackermann acted as
their “tour guide”, and showed them the various departments and areas of
responsibility within the office. After the tour, the Seniors enjoyed cake and
tea and were joined by District Apostle Kitching for a few moments of
fellowship.
Recorder Winter School
During the week of 30 June to 3 July 2008 a recorder winter school was arranged
by the Music Steering Committee of the area of Bishop Edward Bhana. This winter
school was attended by 158 children. This total was made up by children from the
congregations within the districts of Kimberley as well as other surrounding
districts.
