Workshop for Choir Conductors
On 25 to 27 April 2008 a workshop for 20 choir conductors were held in our
church office in Gaborone, Botswana. The facilitators were Priest Ngula and
Brother Inambao. Various topics including musical notation, conducting, and
responsibilities of a choir conductor were covered. After the workshop two
specific groups were identified: those who were still at the beginners stage,
and those a bit more advanced. Both groups will attend another workshop planned
for August 2008.
Choral in Brixton
The congregation of Brixton hosted its own choral on Friday, 18 April 2008.
The event included narration, a big screen presentation and live choral music.
In addition a children's choir, duet and a solo by an 8 year old made it very
special. The aim of this event was to invite all souls who do not attend
services so regularly to “come home”, as well as to invite guests. A CD made by
the choir of Brixton was handed to the Rector, Evangelist Ashley Harrington, in
celebration of his 50th birthday. Bishop Peterson closed the choral with a
prayer and a message that when song comes from the heart, it can reach heaven.
The event was followed by a meal shared by all.
102 Souls Sealed in Shoshanguve
Since District Apostle Kitching is currently looking after the Pretoria
North Apostle Area, he commissioned Apostle Dimba to conduct a sealing service
in Soshanguve church, which forms part of the Shoshanguve North District. In
attendance as well were the souls to be sealed from Shoshanguve South District.
The service took place on 6 April 2008 and a total of 102 souls were sealed by
the apostle. There has been substantial growth in Shoshanguve, and the number of
congregations in the township has grown from 7 in 2000 to a current total of 19
congregations.
