Soshanguve Area
Approximately 5 years ago, Bishop Radebe decided to establish a more solid
musical development strategy within the greater Soshanguve area, as the area
suffered from a severe shortage of competent musicians. Various musicians were
developed and private tuition also allowed one brother to achieve grade 7 on the
organ and a sister to achieve grade 8 with the recorder. On Saturday, 2 December
2006, a concert was arranged where the musicians played for their parents.
Selebi Phikwe (Eastern Botswana)
In January 2006 the office bearers of Selebi Phikwe congregation planned to work
towards a choral concert in November 2006. Having no orchestra, members were
invited to participate in music lessons. Eventually, 45 members participated.
After Thanksgiving, preparations for the choral concert began in all earnest.
The town’s local drama theater was generously made available and on 25 November
2006, a very successful program of 29 Christmas items were presented. Over 70
musicians participated, which also included a local marimba band. Approximately
250 people were present, including some 150 guests. Some of them also attended
the divine service the next day.
