Music School Concert
03.07.2007

At
view of the 45 piece orchestra
On 24 June 2007 the Music School arranged a concert to showcase some of its most
promising students. It was the first concert of this type held by the Music
School. An orchestra of 45 entertained the audience with African and modern
music. Over 50% of the orchestra players are current students or have been
taught by the Music School. Some of the students performed solo’s on the
following instruments: Piano, Violin, Brass, Clarinet, Oboe and Silver Flute.
Guest artists for the day included Yolande Nortjie and the “Velvet Sista's” who
are currently singing for Black Tie Opera Company. A new found mezzo soprano
(Veronica Fakude) from Mpumalanga entertained the crowd with the sweet rendition
of her piece “Torna , mio bene ascolta”. The concert was held in the Musaion
(University of Pretoria Music Faculty). The concert was attended by 427 people.
