On 29 November 2009 La Rochelle congregation celebrated 75 years for the existence of their church building. The festive divine service was conducted by District Evangelist Naidoo followed by a choral presentation. Many members who attended the congregation in the past were also present.

La Rochelle congregation was founded in 1910 and later became the "Mother congregation" of the northern region of South Africa. Initially services were conducted in an old bakery.

The church building was inaugurated on 2 December 1934 by the then Assistant Chief Apostle H F Schlaphoff.
