On 12 September 2009 a special gathering was arranged for Sunday School children of Bishop Bhana's area in Homevale congregation.  The theme for the event was "I love my church", where the parents could see how their children valued God, the church, and its leaders.

Homevale congregation also hosted a choral on 20 September in preparation for Thanksgiving.  The congregational choir, children's choir and regional choir of Kimberley were present, as well as a traditional choir from Boshof.  Over 300 members attended this special event.
