On 07 February 2006, delegates from the various district churches gathered in
Johannesburg for the annual conference on HIV/AIDS in Africa. A concise report
was presented on all the different territories identifying numerous progressive
and positive activities that took place during 2005.
It was again highlighted that there is an ongoing need to improve the moral
principles, values and living standards of our members to help prevent the
spread of HIV/AIDS. In evaluating the progress made both the "Church Policy on
HIV/AIDS" and the "Guidelines for ministers on HIV/AIDS" were revised. A
learning module which focuses on the complete cycle and process of HIV/AIDS was
identified. This program will shortly be made available to assist with the
education program on HIV/AIDS within the church.
In conclusion it was identified that special attention must be given to our
Sunday School and Confirmation children. A curriculum focusing on "Life Skills"
will be designed for them. This will assist in educating them on the very
important subject of HIV/AIDS.
