Another Self-Help Project -
Edenpark During 2004 the congregation
of Edenpark together with the support of the entire South Rand District,
embarked upon a self help project to build their own church. Building work
commenced in earnest during April 2005 and under the guidance of the District
Elder Farrell a fund raising project was initiated in support of the building
operations. Members together with their families, friends and business
acquaintances generously supported the project by pledging donations of various
kinds. Neighbours readily helped with the supply of water. Our sisters were
always ready to provide food and refreshments for the workers. The Old Mutual
Assurance Company also provided a number of apprentices together with their
supervisor from their 17 Shaft Training project to help with initial building
work. The church administration supplied the altar, carpets, benches and
furniture. The hard work of many saw that the building was completed in
approximately 18 months. District Apostle Kitching inaugurated the new church on
Thanksgiving Day, 1 October 2006.
