On 9 September 2007 the Youth from
Mpumalanga South participated in a HIV/AIDS drama festival. The event took place
at the Owersag recreational hall in Nelspruit. The events were subdivided into
four categories, of which three focussed on HIV/AIDS: music composition, poem
rendition, and a drama performance. The fourth catagory was a speech contest
under the topic, “Youth and Substance Abuse-Is it cool to be hooked”?
Around two hundred Youth
members from all eight districts in Bishop Milazi’s area attended. He initiated
proceedings and introduced the panel of judges comprising four members from
Bishop Meyer's area. This included Sicelo, who holds a degree in performing
arts; and Sibusiso, who still belongs to the Youth and is a medical doctor by
profession. Another member of the panel is with the South African National
Council on alcoholism and drug abuse (SANCA).
