On Sunday, 12 February 2017, Deacon Robert Caswell Petrie, was retired from his ministry, after serving the Lord for an extra year in his ministry. The divine service was held by Bishop L Ravell in the congregation of Parow Valley.
The Bible word used as a basis for the divine service was 1 Corinthians 16:9, “For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” The difficulties we are confronted with today, are similar to the difficulties Paul encountered in Ephesus, but none of this discouraged Paul, he firmly believed in his mission and trusted in God.
A beautiful experience of faith through a dream, brought Deacon Petrie into the New Apostolic faith on 30 March 2008 and he received Holy Sealing by the former, Apostle J Kriel, now, District Apostle, on 29 June 2008. “I dreamt that I was attending a divine service in the New Apostolic Church. I was seated next to the parents of my New Apostolic colleague; her younger brother, a Shepherd, held the divine service. The first time I walked into the New Apostolic Church, I was ushered to my seat and found myself seated next to the parents of my colleague. At the commencement of the divine service I noticed that the officiant was in fact the Shepherd George, younger brother of my colleague. I knew that God answered me by indicating to me that this is the place for my spiritual future. I continued to attend the divine services in Bonteheuwel Central Congregation. I immediately felt at home in the presence of my fellow members. Today on my retirement, I can look back and only thank the almighty God for His love and grace, for connecting me with God-fearing children of God.” Today he is proud to say that he is one too.
