The proud Mayberry Park congregation during the inauguration

Dedication: Mayberry Park

13.01.2009

The Mayberry Park church

The new Mayberry Park congregation was inaugurated by District Apostle Kitching on 11 December 2008.

The congregation had its roots in 1990 when many members moved to the region from Alberton and Towerby congregations.  Initially services were held in the music room of Die Varing Highschool (now Dinamika), but in 1994 the congregation relocated to Alberton College.  A stand was already acquired at the time when the congregation was established, but many problems ensued to have the stand rezoned in order to build a church.  Eventually the stand was rezoned in December 2006.

Under the guidance of Bishop Hector and District Elder Farrell and his building committee, the building project commenced.  This followed soon after the completion of the Eden Park project and work began in all earnest in February 2008.  Apostle Dimba officiated at the turning of the sod ceremony on 10 February.

Building work commenced in June 2008, facilitated by various fundraising efforts and donations.  The church administration office provided the furniture, altar, benches and carpets.
