District Apostle
Kitching and Bishop Liddle with the
office bearers of the Seychelles
Towards the
end of 2008 the islands of Mauritius, Mayotte, Rodrigues, La Réunion,
and the Seychelles, located in the vicinity of Madagascar, were handed
over to the South East Africa District Church. From 19 to 22 May 2009
District Apostle Kitching visited some of the congregations on these
islands for the first time. He ordained several ministers, including
one district leader, to help with the Lord’s work on these islands.
On
Saturday, 20 May, he visited the island of Praslin (Seychelles) where he
served 57 members. He also ordained the first priest for the
congregation.
The next
day the District Apostle conducted a service in Victoria, the capital of
the Seychelles. In attendance were 105 souls, including 46 guests.
Here he sealed two souls and ordained two priests for the congregation.
In addition to this he ordained Jean Claude Laurette as a district
evangelist for the Indian Ocean Islands.
Monday
morning saw the District Apostle travel to Mauritius. That evening
he conducted a divine service at Quatre Bornes for 59 members. The
congregation was overjoyed when he sealed one soul and ordained three
deacons. Two priests were also ordained for Rodrigues.
On Tuesday,
23 May the District Apostle travelled back to South Africa.
