Divine Service in Johannesburg - 14 February

The congregation in Standard Bank Arena
A festive and expectant congregation gathered in
the Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg on the afternoon of 14 February 2009 for
a service with Chief Apostle Leber. Before the service a choir of around 2100
members and ochestra of around 300 greeted him as he arrived at the arena with
the hymn “Who is the King of glory”. Over 6000 members enjoyed the service on the day, as
the Chief Apostle used a textword from Ephesians 4:13.

The congregation was encouraged to
grow in unity and grow into the
fullness of Christ. The Chief Apostle also gave a special word from Psalms 84:5.
District Apostles Schneider (France), Hebeisen (Philippines) and Kitching were
called upon to serve. Holy Communion for the Departed was also celebrated,
followed by the ordination of District Elder Tshisekedi as an apostle for the
Democratic Republic of Congo. After the service the Chief Apostle and guests
walked around the arena to greet some of the members. An edited version of the
service was televised to congregations in South Africa and Botswana the next morning.

Already early morning on Sunday 15 February, the Chief Apostle
and guests embarked on their journey to Mocuba from the Lanseria airport in
Johannesburg. As they arrived they could see the 2 big tents erected for his
visit, wherein nearly 15000 members had gathered for the service! A choir of
over 4000, a children’s choir and soloists made beautiful music, some of them
wearing special t-shirts made for the occasion.

After the service in Mocuba, Chief Apostle Leber and his
entourage travelled to Maputo for another service in the afternoon in
Malhangalene congregation. Here over 2000 souls enjoyed the service.
