On Saturday morning, 23 May 2009,
the Boksburg District's Welfare and Outreach Committee visited the
residents of Huis Dien Bothma, an old age home in Boksburg. The
home looks after 125 people.

making music
The activities
commenced at 10H00 with a talk about good self image, followed by
traditional Afrikaans and English folk songs. Music was provided by
Priest Braam Cronje and Deacon Norman Smith. Games, like musical
chairs, were enjoyed thereafter.
From contributions made by members of all the district's congregations a
gift pack could be handed to each resident.
Some of the residents were too weak to participate in the events, so two
members went around the rooms, as well as the frail care centre, to
visit them. When they entered
one room, they found an old lady praying at the side of her bed. She
looked up and when she saw her gift, she burst out in tears, thanking
God for answering her prayers. She ran out of toiletries and was
praying for God's help at that very moment! Understandably this did not
only bring great joy to her heart, but also to the hearts of the team
members.
Everybody enjoyed the day tremendously and sincerely thanked the team
for visiting them. Many of the
residents commented that it was the most laughter they had in the home
and asked the team to visit soon.
