The children playing on the instruments

Amazing Grace Music Enrichment
Program During the April school
holidays 28 children from the Amazing Grace Children’s Home participated in a
music enrichment program. Already in February this year the Music School started
recorder classes at the Home, which take place on Saturday mornings.
It was decided to expand the musical horizon of the children by exposing them to
a greater variety of musical instruments. Thus the music enrichment program was
conducted on 3-4 April 2006. The University of Pretoria Music Department kindly
provided the following instruments: marimbas, xylophones, glockenspiele, steel
drums (which proved to be the most popular) and bongo drums. The program was run
by three of our members (Alex, Andrea and Johan). They are all full time
students studying music at the university, and they also expressed their desire
to form part of an ongoing holiday program at the Home.
